Come get your clean hot, sanitary lunch!

When I was a kid we drove past this building on the way to my grandparents’ house. I never forgot it. I don’t live close to it anymore, but when I had the opportunity to get a shot, I made sure to drive past. It’s missing the hanging sign it used to have out front, but you can still *just* make out the fading lettering.

This is the kind of place I would have loved to try out in the 1930’s. What exactly made it so sanitary? and were the other places in town really that bad?
